PhD Search & Selection is a traditional senior executive search business.  We work in the UK and worldwide financial markets and management consultancy.  We offer the following services for clients.

 

Retained Search & Selection

 

For specialist searches with existing PSL clients and new clients.  Price depends on whether it is one or more roles or team moves.  The fee structure is an initial retainer to cover research, second fee on acceptance of shortlist and final fee on successful hire.

 

  • Mapping of the market (domestic, EMEA or Global, looking at candidates who work in the same role from your direct competitors or suppliers) 
  • Creation of a long list (identifying candidates who are in the position to move)
  • Creation of a short list (after interviewing the long list we will select the candidates with the most suitable skills and cultural fit for the role, within the specified salary range)
  • Management of the recruitment process (creation of project milestones, providing 360 feedback throughout the process, managing change and risk to successful hiring)
  • Post Hiring Review (1,3 and 6 month review with both the candidate and client to ensure maximum satisfaction and success)

 

Contingency Search & Selection

 

For clients who we have a long term PSL relationship with we offer contingency search.  This includes:

 

  • Database Search (from our extensive high quality database that is regularly reviewed and maintained)
  • Advertised Selection (in some cases we will advertise)
  • Referrals (from our network or candidates we have previously placed)
  • Candidates from market maps (from previous research)

 

The management of the process and post hiring review is the same as the retained search although this service does not include such labour intensive market mapping and is more suitable for multiple positions.

 

Services for candidates

 

  • Career Counselling (review of your career to date, your core skills, what types of roles and cultural environments you are suited to)
  • Appraisal of your skills in the market (looking at your options, expectation setting around 3-5 years career progression, salary reviews)
  • Interview preparation (how to present your skills, handling difficult objections, asking questions about the role and company culture)
  • Management of the process (step by step advisory through all stages of the recruitment lifecycle)

 

Research

 

Our research team is educated to MBA and Ph.D level and has access to many sources to constantly identify and delivers quality candidates to our clients.  Our extensive network, database and additional sources allow us access to over one million individuals in financial markets, management consultancy and IT. This means that we have the ability to identify specific individuals within financial markets, management consultancy and IT services companies anywhere in the world. 

 

Technique

 

At Ph.D. we always get to meet a potential candidate for a coffee even if they are happy in their role.  Our job is to find happy people and make them happier. We then do an in-depth analysis of their current role, colleagues, boss, career ambitions, career potential, financial remuneration and personal circumstances.  Then, if their skills match, we then sell the benefits of our client's roles against their current circumstances. 

This is a truly effective technique that results in 75% of all the candidates we put forward getting interviewed with a 50% first round to second round interview progression.  A significant proportion of all candidates we submit get to offer.  Hiring managers continually praise our project planning, time and people-management skills.  

 

 

Managing the process

 

Whilst we manage senior management appointments and it is imperative we have close working relationships across HR and the business. We consistently strive to deliver quality candidates to the hiring managers and guide them through the current market trends, the key motivators and manage the process through as many as ten interviews and timescales of six months.
