This is an exciting opportunity to deliver end to end business process improvement for one of the world’s largest insurance transformation programmes. Working with all areas of the business from sales, customer service, finance, operations and technology it will be your role to design and deliver significant transformation programmes, projects and strategic initiatives, that will contribute to the profit and revenue of our client’s Insurance Division, whilst also improving the Customer Experience and Employee Engagement.

Description

  • The Head of End to End Business Optimisation has joint responsibility, for driving sustainable cultural change and embedding Lean as the standard way of working, with the business areas supported. They will do this by leading and supporting multiple Lean cross functional/end to end transformation projects and a team of Lean Leaders in a variety of business areas, as well as working closely with business leaders to set the strategy and deployment plans for end to end Lean projects and process optimisation to improve overall business performance for Shareholders, Customers and Colleagues.
  • The Head of End to End Business Optimisation has six key responsibilities:
    • Working with senior executives and managers to evolve the End to End Optimisation strategy to identify and deliver on end to end improvements that provide competitive advantage for our business.
    • Leadership of multiple Lean transformations - Leading, supporting, developing and coaching Lean leaders and their teams to design and deliver critical deployment projects to create significant sustainable change in the business
    • Regular and active engagement of Senior Stakeholders to drive cultural change across the business and influencing of Senior Leaders within the Business to ensure sustainability and the embedding of all aspects of Lean as a core element of how the business is run.
    • Development of future strategic plans and frameworks with Business Leaders/Directors and within the Lean Transformation Team to ensure alignment of Lean ways of working and sustainability of changes already delivered
    • Leading changes to the end to end system and processes that are prioritised in line with business need for example in Sales & Service Operations and for the Rescue Business.
    • To set the direction for and define the responsibilities and priorities of the procedure development and process optimisation team and support the business on their programmes as agreed.
  • The Head of End to End Business Optimisation needs to demonstrate strong leadership and is responsible for leading transformational change within a complex business environment. As a result, this role requires significant interaction with various business directors.  At times, the Head of End to End Business Optimisation will represent the Lean Transformation Team at Executive and Management Committee meetings.

Key Role Deliverables:

Criteria/results by which success can be measured

  • Maintain a prioritised pipeline of End to End Lean and Rescue change initiatives
  • Accountable for the delivery of multiple end to end projects and associated resources utilising the Lean Transformation model and approach, within specified timescales agreed for each project.
  • Establishing appropriate stakeholder engagement and implementation and adherence to appropriate governance
  • Accountable for delivery of targeted business benefits, for example productivity, quality assurance and capacity savings.
  • Leadership, support, development, coaching and matrix management of Senior Lean Leaders, Lean Leaders, Lean Change Agents and other project resources to deliver the critical Lean projects and programmes.
  • Coach and develop Lean Leaders throughout the projects to ensure knowledge growth and transfer of best practice
  • Lead, manage, motivate and build capability in Lean, procedure development and change resources.
  • Up skilling self in Lean Transformation techniques and methodologies to ensure a balanced coverage of all 5 lenses and appropriate use of Lean tools on projects and programmes.
  • Create momentum in the business at executive/sponsor level for delivery of future state.  Identify opportunities for Lean in wider business and IT projects and programmes.
  • Represent Lean Transformation at Executive and Management Committee level meetings when required
  • Actively participate in strategic problem solving to open doors and resolve conflicts relating to transformational change
  • Role model strong leadership and Lean support

Experience:

  • Strong leadership experience in a transformational fast paced and complex environment
  • Breakthrough thinking and world class Lean expertise
  • Operations management and people management capability
  • Accredited experience of Lean deployment
  • Experience of managing multiple, large scale projects using a mix of internal and external resources
  • Track record of delivering significant change
  • Understanding of the client’s Work-Out model
  • Experience of process re-design and improvement
  • Training and coaching at senior management level and above
  • Presentation/engagement of senior stakeholders

Technical Knowledge:

  • Project and Programme Management skills
  • Ability to analyse, summarise and problem solve complex issues
  • Lean expertise – specifically the ability to define true end to end value streams and deliver upon solutions that all stakeholders support
  • Ability to differentiate between cross functional opportunities and true end to end opportunities
  • Experienced in and able to apply  a range of continuous improvement methodologies in order to bring about successful change e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, innovation

People Management:

  • Leadership of a team of Lean Leaders and Lean Change Agents, plus Procedure Development team and Rescue Change Function.
  • Leadership of other subject matter experts and dedicated resource from business areas involved.
  • Leadership of business and team through Lean Project model
  • Leadership style that reflects the Insurance/NewCo values
  • Coach and support Lean Leaders through Lean accreditation process
  • Clear succession planning and talent management

Financial Management:

  • Responsible for ensuring all Projects deliver targeted return on investment likely to exceed £10m run rate benefit (benefit assessment/capacity creation to be completed with the business).
  • Take pro-active approach to ensuring that the overall Lean Business case benefits are delivered by working with central Lean programme, peers and Lean Leaders
  • Ensure appropriate support and return on investment from spend with external suppliers
